Intel Unveils Cutting-Edge AI Chipsets in "AI Everywhere" Launch Event

In an event titled "AI Everywhere" held in New York City, Intel took the stage on Thursday to introduce a sweeping lineup of AI products tailored for a wide array of applications spanning the data center, cloud, network, edge, and PC. At the forefront of this unveiling is the Intel Core Ultra mobile processor family, a revolutionary development leveraging Intel's 4 process technology. Marking a substantial architectural shift after four decades, this processor family introduces a neural processing unit (NPU), setting a new benchmark for power-efficient AI acceleration. Notably, it achieves a remarkable 2.5 times better power efficiency compared to its predecessor, showcasing Intel's commitment to advancing AI capabilities while prioritizing energy efficiency.

Simultaneously, the 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor family takes center stage, boasting AI acceleration embedded in every core. This breakthrough promises a significant leap in both AI and overall performance, coupled with a compelling cost benefit. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, at the heart of the event, underscored the company's dedication to seamlessly integrating AI into diverse applications, whether in the cloud or locally at the PC and edge. The showcased AI footprint spans across cloud and enterprise servers to networks, volume clients, and ubiquitous edge environments.

A key highlight of the presentation was the introduction of the Intel Gaudi3 AI accelerator, scheduled for release in the upcoming year. This accelerator is poised to elevate deep learning and large-scale generative AI models, aligning strategically with Intel's ambitious goal to secure a more substantial share of the accelerator market by 2024. Already available with select U.S. retailers for the holiday season, Intel Core Ultra-based AI PCs are set to make a significant impact. With plans to feature in over 230 designs globally within the next year, Intel anticipates that AI PCs will constitute a staggering 80% of the PC market by 2028.

The 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors, equipped with built-in AI accelerators, promise marked improvements in performance and efficiency across data center, cloud, network, and edge applications. Notable partnerships with industry giants like IBM and Google Cloud, alongside collaborations with indie game studio Gallium Studios, underscore the processors' capabilities, hinting at substantial advancements in query throughput, threat detection, and inference performance. Intel's latest offerings in AI chipsets signal a transformative era in computing, reinforcing its position at the forefront of technological innovation.
