Microsoft Elevates Windows 10 Intelligence with Introduction of Generative AI-Powered Copilot

In a significant upgrade, Microsoft has enriched the user experience for over 1 billion Windows 10 PCs by introducing the Generative AI-powered Copilot. This innovative feature, announced at the Ignite 2023 summit, brings advanced capabilities to Windows 10, a platform that continues to dominate with over 70% market share, as reported by Statista.

Despite the launch of Windows 11 in 2021, Windows 10 remains the predominant operating system, supported until October 14, 2025. Microsoft's commitment to enhancing Windows 10 is underscored by the introduction of Copilot, set to revolutionize user interactions on the platform.

Windows 10 users will soon experience Copilot through the preview channel, available for insiders currently on Windows 10, version 22H2. Positioned at the right corner of the screen, Microsoft ensures that the Copilot window seamlessly integrates without overlapping content or obstructing open app windows.

Alongside Copilot, Windows 10 users can anticipate additional features, such as an expanded news and interests window. Microsoft plans to implement these updates gradually, with Windows 10 Pro edition users gaining access to Copilot in subsequent phases.

Formerly known as Bing Chat, Copilot introduces generative AI capabilities to Windows 10, aligning its functionality with the existing features available to Windows 11 users. This virtual AI assistant, powered by GPT, empowers users to organize windows, receive answers to queries, and benefit from content summarization. Notably, Copilot's image-generation capabilities are driven by DALL·E, enhancing its versatility and utility for Windows 10 users. The phased rollout reflects Microsoft's commitment to delivering an enhanced and seamless computing experience for its vast user base.
