Samsung and Google Cloud have joined forces to usher in a new era of smartphone technology, marking Samsung as the first Google Cloud partner to integrate Google's revolutionary Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 Gen AI models into its devices. The announcement signifies a pivotal moment in the global smartphone market, with the two tech giants setting the stage for widespread industry advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). The partnership, spanning multiple years, aims to bring Google Cloud's generative AI technology to Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones worldwide. This move aligns with the growing trend of technology companies leveraging AI to drive innovation in mobile devices. In the race between tech behemoths Google and Microsoft to embed Gen AI into everyday applications and devices, Samsung has taken the lead by deploying Google's Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 Gen AI models on its smartphones. Imagen 2, developed by Google DeepMind, stands out as the most advanced text-to-image technology, promising high-quality, photorealistic outputs aligned with user prompts. Google's Gemini AI, unveiled at the end of 2023, represents the pinnacle of AI capability. Celebrated for its sophisticated multi-modal functionalities, Gemini AI excels in mastering human-style conversations, language, and content. The integration of these cutting-edge technologies into the Samsung Galaxy S24 series is poised to reshape user experiences and expectations. Janghyun Yoon, Corporate EVP and Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled that the Galaxy S24 series is the first smartphone equipped with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI.”

As part of this groundbreaking collaboration, Samsung is at the forefront of testing Gemini Ultra, Google's most powerful model for complex tasks. Additionally, the S24 series will incorporate Gemini Nano, an on-device LLM delivered through the Android 14 operating system, described by Google as the most efficient model of Gemini for on-device tasks. Thomas Kurian, CEO at Google Cloud, underscores the vast potential for generative AI to create meaningful mobile experiences, fostering stronger connections and communication for millions. With the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung developers can leverage Google Cloud's infrastructure and cutting-edge performance to deliver safe, reliable, and engaging generative AI applications on Samsung smartphones. The partnership marks a significant stride towards shaping the future landscape of AI-driven mobile technologies.
